Whether you enjoy singing, acting or just want to find out more about this great partnership, why not pop along to one of our Friday rehearsals – we’ll offer you a warm welcome and you won’t even have to audition! If you want to join in behind the scenes with costumes, make-up, props, stage crew etc. then we’d also like to hear from you.
Where do you meet/rehearse?
Our current rehearsal/meeting venue is the newly refurbished Southdown Methodist Church Centre in The Hollow, Bath BA2 1NG (Haycombe Cemetery end). This comprises a hall, church, two smaller meeting rooms and a kitchen. There is adequate off-street parking behind and in front of the hall. Go to our venues page for more details.
When do you rehearse?
The main rehearsal night for singing members is Friday. Rehearsals generally start at 7.30 pm and normally end by 10.00 pm. There is an interval during the rehearsal providing an opportunity for members to have a coffee or tea and a chat. Principals/soloists also rehearse on Wednesday evenings and a month or so before production week, everyone may be called on both Wednesday and Friday evenings in the run up to the main annual production. The occasional Sunday rehearsal may also be necessary.
Do I need to audition?
There is NO audition to join the society, but we are proud of our musical standards and expect you to enjoy singing and be able to hold a tune! We will help enthusiastic novices to find the voice part they are most comfortable with. All members are encouraged to audition for principal/solo roles in our concerts and main stage production.
How much does it cost?
If you decide to become a member then the current annual fee is £120 (£20 for students). This includes membership, rehearsal and performance fees and the opportunity to take part in the annual stage production and all concerts and events during the season. Reduced rates are available for those who do not wish to participate in the whole season activities. Non-singing/non-acting members may join for £20.
