For over seventy years, Bath Gilbert and Sullivan Society has been appreciating, performing and promoting the works of one of musical theatre’s most successful and enduring partnerships. Between 1871 and 1896 WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan produced 13 comic operas which are still regularly staged throughout the English speaking world and beyond. The Society is affiliated to NODA and the national Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
Our busy and enjoyable schedule includes concerts, plays, old time music hall nights, talks, film showings, charity and social events. The season culminates in a fully staged production at the end of May and normally ends with a programme of charity concerts in late June, early July.
Following our very successful music hall at The Mission Theatre at the beginning of March, we'll be returning there with an exciting new fully staged production of THE YEOMEN OF THE GUARD in November 2017. This is regarded by Gilbert and Sullivan as their greatest achievement together and there is little doubt that the work contains some of their very best music and writing. Rehearsals start on Friday 21st April at Southdown from 7.30 pm - why not come along to find out more about the production from our director Scott Rogers.
